In the art studio in the heart of Vienna, now you have the opportunity to create a beautiful environmentally-conscious vase and at the same time to responsibly upcycle a plastic bottle (0.5l) that you have used. The combination of Jesmonite, Viennese urban remains (urbanite), and plastic bottle is an innovative and exciting mix of materials that makes this workshop even more special.

Don't forget to save a plastic bottle and bring it to the workshop!

  • After taking a brief look at the negative impact of waste on the environment and the future of materials, you will learn about the characteristics of Jesmonite and methods to achieve the desired color and aesthetic effect. You’ll become familiar with how to mix Jesmonite with other materials, cast the mixture in the mold, sand the object and apply a sealer. You’ll also discover how plastic bottles can be upcycled. The mold we use is made out of our project’s leftovers, making this workshop even more eco-friendly.

  • 1. Jesmonite is a non-toxic and eco-friendly material that can be recycled. By using this material, the product reduces the reliance on harmful materials.

    2. Plastic bottle is repurposed into a functional and aesthetically pleasing product, and thereby the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills or in the environment is reduced.

    3. Urbanite (certified recycled concrete) is used to offer innovative solutions in reducing the environmental impact of demolition waste. Urban remains coming from the city of Vienna have emotional value that make this product an attractive option for tourists or locals looking for a unique and meaningful memento of the city.

  • You will learn something new, express creativity, and make an environmentally conscious object! The innovative mixture of materials, combined with the creative and supportive environment, make this workshop a unique and exciting opportunity for anyone interested in sustainability, art, and object-making. You will make an item in just 3 hours, and take it home right away.
